The main character is a “nameless hero”, a trademark of the developer's games, and the story takes place years after his adventure to save Faranga from the attack of the titans. However, now he is part of the Inquisition and has become a first-class “drunkard” to forget the past.
The game begins in Caldera, in a seaside fort surrounded by burning mountains. A ship appears on the horizon, but you only need to use a spyglass to see it being sunk by a Kraken. The only survivor of the sinking is the daughter of the infamous Captain Steelbeard, Patty.
Commander Carlos, knowing about the hero's past, tells a rumor about Steelbeard being in possession of a magical weapon capable of defeating the leader of the titans, Mara – who controls the Kraken and two bands of pirates. With that, he expels his character from the Inquisition with one last mission: find this weapon and use it to save humanity.
