Tropico 5 is the newest title in the Kalypso franchise that puts players in the shoes of a ruler of a small Caribbean island country. This time, however, in addition to aiming to remain in power for as long as possible, the series receives a new system of dynasties that allows their successors the possibility of assuming public positions and even the island.
In this way, the franchise ends up adding in an interesting way the hereditary succession so typical in dictatorial regimes. Despite looking like a great manager with a tropical theme, Tropico 5 can be described as a simulator. In this case, the typical statistics and indices of the genre are all there, making it necessary to keep citizens happy and contain political tensions to avoid coups d'état or electoral defeats.
As 'El Presidente', you must first take control of the infamous island of Tropico in early colonial times, then lead it through the centuries as the world advances and progresses. To be able to lay the foundations of your own dynasty, you must deal with the dynamics of your people's needs and face opposing factions and governments.
During your tenure, you can promote members of your extended family to positions of power: ambassador, commander of the armed forces, or even Supreme Ruler.
